err:frontline:capacity:no_running_instances
The deployment should be running, but right now no instance of it is up in any region. It usually lasts a moment while a deployment starts, scales, or replaces failed instances. You get 503 Service Unavailable.
Example response
Browsers get the same error as an HTML page.

If you’re calling an API hosted on Unkey

Retry after a short delay, with backoff. If it lasts more than a few minutes, only the API owner can fix it. Give them the request ID.

If you own this API

The gateway sends each request to a running instance in its region, or in the nearest region that has one. There was none. Common causes:
  • The deployment is still starting and has no ready instances yet.
  • Every instance failed, usually because the process exits at startup or never passes its health check.
  • The environment has no current deployment, or its regions and replica counts aren’t what you expect.

How to fix

  1. Open the deployment in the dashboard. During a rollout, wait for instances to become ready.
  2. If instances are failed, read the runtime logs for a crash at startup or a failing health check.
  3. Check that the has a current deployment, and that its regions and replica counts are set as you expect.
A deployment you stopped on purpose returns deployment_offline instead.
